Decora Sandiford
Founder CEO
Decora has spent the last two decades in the Hudson Valley creating and helping to revive the community. Prior to graduating with his bachelor’s in sociology from Mount Saint Mary's College, Decora toured North America, Europe and Brazil, performing and teaching community workshops. Decora spent most of his non-touring hours building social justice programs and opportunities throughout the Hudson Valley. In the city of Newburgh alone, Decora sat on the Arts and Culture Committee, City Charter Review Commission, Pathstone Community Improvement Board and the Newburgh Mural Project board, to name a few. Decora has also helped to start several community gardens, and has volunteered thousands of hours with Community Voices Heard and many environmental and food justice organizations. In 2015 Decora became one of the first graduates of the Goodwork Institute where he refocused his energy towards music, landing him on tour with Roc Nation and featuring music on Spike Lee Joints, as well as BET and Netflix. In 2019 Decora received the Human Rights Award from Orange County, where he began the idea of creating a hospitality service that focused on social entrepreneurship, allowing for business and community to mutually benefit from tourism.

While getting his MBA from Mount Saint Mary College, Markell worked on the executive staff supervising housekeeping as well as the overnight staff. Markell has been ingrained in the arts community through dance collaborating and teaching at organizations up and down the Hudson River. Through Dreamburgh, Markell has become more involved in supporting community action to create diversity and culture. In addition to Dreamburgh, Markell has also been a youth leader at his church, encouraging youth to seek education as an empowering tool for change.

Tanya Spearing
Solutions Supervisor
After two decades in Orange County and a degree from Orange County Community College, Tanya spent 5 years touring and teaching the art of public speaking and performance to at-risk youth across North America and London. As the founding member of an independent record label and poetry group, Tanya used her public persona to help combat social and environmental injustices by working with organizations like Hip Hop Not War, Scenic Hudson and Habitat for Humanity to name a few. Tanya went on to co-found Space Create, a community driven collaborative workspace on Broadway in downtown Newburgh. Space Create quickly became the go-to place for business incubation and community partnership. In less than three years Space Create provided office space for 15 businesses, 6 community organizations and 70 artists. In addition to office space and a public gallery, Space Create held a fellowship for young entrepreneurs, one of which went on to co-found Newburgh Skate Park. In 2019 Tanya completed her MBA in Global Business from Kean University. Tanya now continues to volunteer in her community and create strategic solutions for Dreamburgh.

Dreamburgh is a BIPOC company founded by Decora Sandiford and Markell Baker. We are committed to the well-being of the communities we live and work in, by buying locally, hiring local talent and paying excellent wages. In addition to using primarily renewable energy, we leverage our short term rental properties to support affordable housing for local residents. We invite you to stay in one of our various guest spaces, and while you are here, let us share with you some of what we most love about life here in our Valley.
